Your breasts enhance your figure and are a sign of your femininity and vitality, so if you’re unhappy with the size or shape of your breasts, it can harm your self-confidence. Board-certified plastic surgeon Roger T. Brill, MD, has over 30 years of experience in performing breast augmentation procedures to create beautiful, natural-looking busts. You can make an appointment at his private cosmetic and plastic surgery practice in Gainesville, Florida, by calling the office or scheduling online.
A breast augmentation — also called a boob job or mammaplasty — is a surgical procedure to improve and enhance the appearance of your breasts. The surgery can lift your breasts, or increase or reduce their size. You may also want to have a breast augmentation after significant weight loss or breastfeeding, as both can leave your breasts loose and sagging.
If you want to increase the size of your breasts, Dr. Roger Brill uses Natrelle® “gummy bear” implants for a natural look and feel, as well as decreased risk of damage or leaks. The implants are available in a range of sizes to create the perfect shape and fullness for your body and appearance.
You are a good candidate if you are an adult in good general health and have fully developed breasts. Dr. Brill provides extensive preoperative consultations to learn about your goals and educate you about the process and your projected results. He helps you develop realistic expectations about how the surgery can help you meet your goals.
Your surgery begins with an anesthetic specialist placing an IV and providing a sedative so that you sleep through the procedure. Once you’re prepared, Dr. Brill begins by making incisions in your breasts. Depending on the specific procedure, he makes incisions in your underarm, under your breast, or around your nipple.
He manipulates your skin and breast tissue, removing excess tissue if necessary. He slides the implants into place and secures them. Then he closes the incisions.
After your surgery is complete, Dr. Brill bandages your breasts and applies a compression garment. Dr. Brill provides customized postoperative care instructions. It’s normal to have some swelling and discomfort days after your surgery. In most cases, you can control pain with over-the-counter medicine and cold compresses. The swelling usually subsides quickly, leaving you with your new breast enhancements.
Typically, you’ll need a day or two off to recover. You should avoid strenuous exercise or heavy lifting until Dr. Brill gives you an all-clear at your follow-up appointment.
